These paintings are Frankensteins. Bits and pieces of images I find and stitch together to have a new life. Often the new incarnations are personifications of abstract ideas, like vulnerability, defiance and what it means to be human. Bones, birds, weather, things we keep, things we throw away, the fragility of life and the beauty in common objects.
My recent paintings are focused on the circus. They are narratives of animals in training, innocent, dignified yet fragile. They are metaphors for how our lives are molded, sometimes with restrictions and restraints . Sometimes put upon us by our own self-doubts and self imposed limitations.
